1 problem - i do not have enough space to store and format the disk anddo not want to buy an external drive. When I try to delete the old files manually windows (trash delete AND.direct), it denies access me!

What can I do to gain access? it does WRK with xp is no admin rights or anythin like that. Is there a program that can help me?

You will see that some Windows files are defined as read-only, they are the ones that Windows (all versions) does not allow you to delete.

If you want to do it manually, you can remove most of the files of most files, and bring the files read-only.

Once you can determine who they are, you can use Windows Explorer to find the files and one by one, using properties, "you can change the attributes of a file" Archives ", then remove them, but it is a pain in the neck to do this way.

Better still, if the hard disk does not contain important files, you can simply configure the C: drive, then run a Windows installation, from your CD, then when asked if you want to install or repair, select Install. " This allows you to remove your old copy of Windows before installing new. Here is the neat little. Once you've deleted the old Windows, just to stop the installation, it's that simple!

of course, if you are fairly familiar, simplest and best way is to simply launch an "unconditional format on the hard drive. Who removes everything, and without possibility of recovery! In addition, if you can boot from a floppy, you can use a good old DOS boot disk and run FDISK, then remove all partitions on the disk (NON-DOS and DOS). This leaves you with what look like a new hard drive. You should then be able to format the disk of Windows.

Personally, I stick with XP! You can still maintain regular updates, and you still had your old (and useful) friend!

files must be removed from a "low level", as a Live CD (try Knoppix)
