What is the best way of creating an image of your PC hard drive in case it fails? Then write to a CD or DVD?

Our PC at home is running Windows XP with Adobe Reader, MS Office, and a large number of tax software and data. I can not remember the size of hard disk. It would be good if we can create an image of it in case of disk failure. There were a couple of times that the PC has obtained a large number of bugs and crashed. I had to rebuild from scratch. It is not too bad for the operating system and some software standard, but it took some time to get the party Internet at work and it took some time to re-install the software on the tax - . If we have a backup of our hard disk (C:), it would be wonderful. That way, if something happens, we can restore it with a minimum of time.

Why will my PC take up to 20 minutes to load an application and then work perfectly OK for a while?

I start my computer and everything works smoothly. After searching the net for some time and use of various applications, it is suddenly a point where, if I click to load a program, nothing happens until 20 minutes later, and everything is pass the time. According to my anti virus, I have nothing infectious, and even with my anti-spyware programs.I have two of them. I have not been on a bad Web sites! I am a functioning own version of Win XP Home SP2, and only if it were 2 weeks maximum.The same happens with any application outside my files loading. I do not know what could be, as I never find something like this before.
I do not really want to make a new copy of XP as I have all set up nicely. I had repaired 2 weeks ago, with a re-installation of XP and the store partioned my hard drive in two. I do not know how, they added more software that I do not have backup so I am not myself in a bigger mess.

I received a tomtom 510 as a Christmas present and I found that the USB dock is a bit choosy when it will work or not (sometimes as USB, sometimes appears with map). The charging light turns on only if you violin TT up and down a bit. According to my experience with Spybot in recent years, and thanks to my Comp Eng. during college, I found that it was a solid program.

was not in the habit of copying an operating system from one computer to another. The reason is that operating systems make the hardware components of a computer to work with each other and with the software.

You need to install the operating system you want on the computer as you want on the disc from a Master, and both must have been designed to accommodate each other. Usually, this means that you need to create a new partition of the computer so that the new operating system will not interfere with the old operating system. If you just want a new OS and does not care about the old one, just delete the hard disk clean and install the new operating system, but be sure you know where the master discs are for all software that you l intend to remain so.

Well, it may not be possible. Fedora The DVD is already compressed and may not be able to compress much further. But you can try. WinRar has different options that you can select the compression method. You want the option that says "best". It can be time consuming, but it can save space. Another thing you can do is try WinAce. Sometimes it can compress things better. Simply select the best compression method as well.

Hope it helps, but I doubt that you will be able to squeeze in 8 gb 4.5 gb, since it is already compress some at the start.

My computer says that I have the heart drive. So I went out and bought a hd external (westerndigital mybook critical edition 160GB) because I installed everything I had to do was plug it, but I am not sure what to do after. You can not access the RSX chip PS3s with Linux. You have none of the graphic power of the PS3 during the execution of another OS, so you can not play PS3 games through him (and no, not software exists).

My laptop has stopped recognizing my external USB!?

I have an external hard drive connected to my laptop. He worked very well, but now it does not recognize the external drive. An hour DV tape downloaded to your computer holds 12GB of memory - more than twice as much as can be accommodated on a single layer DVD. So there is no way to store the raw data from a 60m DV tape to a DVD.

However, when you come to burn the DVD and watch it on your DVD player crude (AVI) is converted into MPEG movies and compressed. Your DV tape 60 minutes and then uses only about 4 gigabytes, and can fit on one DVD, as the quality complete a single layer DVD will hold 73 minutes of video.

Sufficiently reduce the quality and you can adapt more than 5 hours - but whether it would be useful to look at is another matter.

Hello, I am stuck with some windows xp pro activation.
Basically, I bought this POS system from a Canadian company. They went bust, and I am stuck with $ 15000 system running on XP Pro.

To make a long story short, I bought a motherboard with backup exact same model and trying to produce a backup system in case the primary server POS kicks the bucket.

I use a program called Veritas Simple Backup to arrive at the image on a DVD recordable. I managed to find a way to restore the image of DVD on the backup system. However, when I boot box backup, it goes directly into the top window activation.

I called Microsoft and they say that I must contact the manufacturer POS because they hold the key license for the XP pro. I am really screwed at this point.

Has anyone had any useful advice?

FYI: I tried Norton Ghost, and this gives me the same case. Just goes directly to the layout.

It is backwards, I know, but the "Quick Restore" is in fact the long road, and the "System Restore" is the shortest route.
1. "System Restore" is where you select a date to restore your system to back (it may be totally UNdone below).
2. "Quick Restore" is the place where you have to "back up all your files, software and computer programs" and it can not be undone. This is a Uninstall and Reinstall your operating system (Windows, Mac, Vista, whatever --- Linux).

I was wondering, you know how there is a pre-installed option in the start menu for the use of the implementation and pilot recovery program to restore the software and drivers for your PC on HP OEM machines? Try this: Open tasmanager (click on the start right click on my computer, then click Properties) must elevate task manager. Then on Device Manager. Look for usb tab click it.
