Backing up system files?

I'm running software backup my system files on a network drive in Win XP SP2, what files in the system are most important to return? My backups are done automatically once a week and take a short and simple, I only want to save the most important files for the system.

Your best method is a more secure incremental backup. This will require a full backup of the chain of transmission the first time you run. Of course, it will take some time, but it is only necessary once. But then, does the backup copy all the files that have changed since the last backup on each backup. This will vary only slightly, as the majority of cases are related to the program or operating system and will not change. This backup can be done each night, that the amount of files stored each night is very low.

If you need to repair your files. You get everything. You restore the full backup and restore incremental backup (s). Once done, all that was on hard during the last backup will be restored. Only all data added in the last hour of the day or week since the backup will have been lost.

sure to have a boot disk to access files on the network, or a file on the network, which will be able to access the drive and restore it without the OS working on 'computer. The backup software you use should have options for creating such a folder or disk.

I recommend that you save the entire C: partition that contains the operating system. And as a backup of important files from other partitions.

C: \ Windows \ System and C: \ Windows \ System32 \ eseential are also C: \ Documents and Settings \ which contains all your user accounts and prefrences that you can keep.

You must save all your documents (or work files), your Windows registry, all your installation files in case of a major system crash.

It is sometimes a good idea to make a boot disk (3 1 / 2 Floppy A - which is very old, but is still used, or sometimes even a CD.) Windows can even make one of these by going to Start => All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => Backup => Next => Create a backup => backup files and settings => Next => All information on this computer => Next etc.

Thus, the main backup all files, registry settings and create a boot disk of any kind.
