Question about backing up drives?

I went in Windows XP and makes a backup on another disc on a external.I supported my chain of transmission now if I get a viris how can I restore .. After it goes something like a caching viris because I will have the reformatt hard to get rid of the viris. So I will not be able to use Windows to put it back because it ' is not there anymore. I basiclly I am tired of spending all day and half the night to reinstall all my software whenever I catch a viris which is useually once week.Help tired.

You will have to reinstall XP itself and then use the backup and restore access to all parameters, data and programs.

Note: May be wise to strengthen your PC security. Here is a Yahoo Answer I found so excellent that I had to save for my own future reference.
I think it was sent by "Sara C":

Its easier to prevent entry into the malicious software on your system, in the first place, rather than attempting to remove it. All programs are free for personal use;

You must install a firewall.
The Windows Firewall does not stop malicious software on your PC numbering.
Zone Alarm firewall or
- Comodo firewall.

You must install an anti virus;
AVG Anti-virus or
- Avast Antivirus

You need all three anti-spyware
- AVG (Ewido), anti Trojans.
- Ad-Aware SE Personal fight against adware
- Spybot Search and Destroy anti-spyware. Use the parameters Teatimer to protect Internet Explorer and Immuniser to stop malicious programs on your PC.
You can also use Microsoft Defender online and their scans.

And these are utilities;
- Firefox web browser.
Cr * pcleaner Registry own tool and privacy
Winpatrol is a handy utility that tracks cookies on your PC and stops unwanted changes to your Startup folder.

SpywareBlaster works with Internet Explorer and Firefox. It will not uninstall the spyware that is already on your PC, but it helps prevent piracy and other malicious changes to your browser.

- MacAffee site advisor warns against malicious software on sites that you are about to visit.

- The Spyware Warrior false site lists anti-spyware programs.
- Shields Up security site, check your firewall.

Do not forget to update and manage you all programmes of action against malicious software at least once a week.

You need to tell us what kind of back-up he is. Do you just drag files over, or did you use software such as Dantz Retrospect?

1.You need an external drive to do so.
2. Get a drive imaging software such as Norton Ghost.
3. Reformatting your hard
4. Install all the applications you need (Microsoft Office, iTunes, etc.)
5. While you use as a reader imager Norton Ghost to the disk image.

That's how it works:
After re-formatting windows and installing everything you applications, the hard disk Imager is an exact copy of your hard when you receive a virus, imager reader "BLAST" this image of hard disk to your current, it takes less time.

use something like Norton Ghost or disk image backup of your discs, it will restore your disc in a matter of 3 hours right where you left it. and you have serious security problems if you get that often viruses. get a firewall ... and not let any program on the Internet because it wants. obtain an anti-virus program if you need a free, go to www.grisoft.com
