Free backup programs?

answering to your comments:
Hi.I am looking for a backup program that is free and can take snapshots of the system and store them on my hard external 250gb NTFS drive.Have all major software companies to safeguard credit programs that can automatically: timing of the time, date, etc. As you want to save. Then, your PC will automatically connect to your computer and save? It would indeed be a program. Thanks for any assistance

There are two excellent commercial software for this - and norton ghost acronis trueimage.

On the free side of things there are a number of programs available

Freeghost

You need to download and burn to a cd boot, and then the CD.

Partimage

Burn / boot cd

This is great, but it is not capable of cloning of a larger and a smaller hard drive, work with disk partitions, or to establish or restore the image files (locally or not). If thats not your case is what Id recommend.

If you have a technological capability basic linux these tools are very commendable, but if you do not know what you need to do some reading on how to use

DriveImage XML uses the Volume Shadow Copy Service to safeguard the disk partitions and image files or clone drive to drive while Windows is running. As a result, a Windows task can also be embodied and programmed to automatically create backup images. While this program can accomplish the tasks it promises, backups take longer than using one of the programs mentioned above offline. It can create images provided backup while Windows is running, which is excellent for making "incremental" backup images between full backups offline

SBSE works the same driveimage way xml, runs in the background while you use the windows.

Try Cobian Backup

Seems to be the right one. Allows all the things you said, free, saving at intervals etc. ..
