It can be for linux or windows, I do not mind. What i liked in picasa is that when I wanted to save a value of 5 dvds photos, I just selected files, backup pressed, and the software started to write the dvd, asking another blank because it finished filling one inside. He also remembers the pictures that were saved and which have not.

I advise you to use Acronis True Image.
It's very good software for backing up your data and it is reliable and easy to use.
