.. Hi I have a laptop but no HP nc6230 cdr dvd writer on board,
I did not have the solutions recovery CD that came with the laptop!
I want to safeguard the image of the hard drive on my USB allowing me to retsore laptop if my player fails or an upgrade, what software will? The board

If my car breaks down when booting DOS will not see the USB flash drive, I have no floppy drive or another!

What is the size of the USB Flash Drive? Some images may be larger than 8GB. You may be able to use Symantec Ghost. But generally you would have a Ghost Server running ot who submit an application to the customer to create an image file.

Once you have the image file (s) on the server you can then copy to a USB hard disk.

I recommend using free Acronis True Image 7.0. It is much better than MS Backup utility. True Image do a backup with a few clicks. Follow the link to obtain a free serial number:

I can only agree with chromer. In my opinion, True Image is more reliable than other backup utilities, and it will certainly do the job.
