The best software is free software. You do not need to buy one of the things that I list here:

Knoppix:
Linux on a CD. A wide range of tools for troubleshooting on it.

Ubuntu:
To install on their computers. Remedy the curse of Windows.

Hmm ... I thought it would end up being a long list, but I think not. More seriously, Knoppix a lot about him for hardware troubleshooting, and once you install Ubuntu all software problems are cured.

learn to back up a computer, you do not need a program that

For anti-virus there is a lot of AVG Zone Alarm. His whole on what you or your client wants

You can create a boot disk if you just want you restart the computer, as in all again. But this can happen expensive try forums such as pc-mech they will teach you a lot

check google, you need POST card, and software with it.
A box with Windows and additional diagnostic software that checks HD monitoring.

PS POST card that you can buy on ebay for about $ 30 - $ 40, I bought a:) continue to work. But you need to know the codes

POST beeps basics It is a very open question :-) This will depend on what is wrong with the computers you fixation.

Most computers coming in a repair shop for spyware and viruses that cause slowdowns with problems and windows.

Anti Spyware - Free programs are available for download from www.download.com
AdAware
Spybot Search and Destroy Spyware Blaster

Free for scans online software spies and viruses:
Do not use anything from Symantec, they are more desperate and screwup " computers than their correction.

If you recover data from damaged file systems:
Getmydataback of www.runtime.org, it is a program that you have to buy, but it works very well.

Most likely, you will be fixing windows so your computers AVG gonna need a copy of windows, at least one external drive, and probably another computer for research etc.

Generally people vis their computers so bad that her best just to back up important files and format the hard disk. Then reinstall the windows and make sure you take all measures within your power to prevent them from screwing it again. Like installing firewalls, windows service packs, all updates, changing their Internet browser Opera or Firefox and set it as the default so they wont accidentally use IE. Also never use norton antivirus McAfee or they are the most boring ever.
