Home Network Backup Solution?

What I:

laptop with a DVD burner, running XP pro
A desktop running XP home.
A computer running Windows ME
A computer running Linux Ubantu

What I need:
The ability to safeguard all the machines (except perhaps Windows machine ME) on DVD in the laptop. The software needs to make an initial full backup, which will require extending over several DVDs. From there, I will need incremental backups. Could well be able to restore individual files. Legato Networker I used to work before, and really liked, but $ 2k for Legato is not something that I will do for a home network. Free OSS solutions would be the best course, but a commercial solution is probably what I will go with - not just one that costs $ 2K.

This program includes many useful features that will allow you to fully manage all tasks associated with backup and recovery, including the installation of the product, backup, optimization of storage resources, and a view of the state of remote systems across your network. For more information on True Image Enterprise Server go here:

i agree with the speaker above, the true image of the enterprise cn do what you want easily, but it's a little expensive. If this were not comp linux, you should be able to use the workstation version, which costs a lot less. But true image enterprise server is the only one who supports linux dare sollution. U

How about suggesting online backup? Depending on the size of your backup, it is not all that expensive. The site below the cost as low as $ 8.99/mo for 50 GB of backup. If you still have a moderate regard nightly backups will probably take an hour or less (after the initial load).

The advantage is that you get good, automatic backup, offsite storage (hello, Katrina!), And at least in the case of the company below, you can save all your machinery and share space on the account. (Windows, Mac, Linux, Sun, Novell, etc.)

You can also restore individual files from anywhere with a Web browser, without loading client software.
