I recently just bought a new 2008 Gateway MT6728 notebook, is the laptop ok for gaming?

No, it has a virtue of the CPU and graphics processor x3100 it has is an integrated model which means it not have an independent graphics card and is not intended for all games. You can get away with games like WOW with a low to mid details but do not expect to play games like highend Cysis The Orange Box, or with any type of good resolution or details.

Laptops for the game will cost $ 3000 - $ 5000 and even then they only perform half as well as an office, costing less than half the price. Laptops simply do not handle the games well because good graphics cards are too high and require too much power.
