i am trying to find free software to download so i can backup and burn my pc games on a cd?

If you use XP, you do not really need. All the files you want to save, you can drag and drop them into the picture of your burner in "My Computer", it asks you whether you want to burn CDs. As backup windows you can restore a system and do not need to burn it to cd's, I found the following in the windows help files:

OverviewSystem Restore System Restore is a component of Windows XP Home Edition, which you can use to restore your computer to a previous state, if a problem occurs, without losing your personal data files (such as Microsoft Word documents, the browsing history, drawings, bookmarks, or e-mail). Restoration of the system monitors changes to the system and some application files, and automatically creates restore points easily identifiable. These restore points allow you to return to the system of a former time. They are embodied every day and when important events of the system (for example, when an application or driver is installed). You can also create and name your own restore points at any time. Notes

Restore your computer does not affect or change your personal data files. It's a good idea to back up your data files regularly. For example, you can copy your data files to removable media, such as a compact disc recordable, once a week.
For an overview of other recovery techniques provided with Windows XP, see recovery of your system.
For more information on System Restore, see Understanding System Restore.

, you must install the software Nero 6.0 burner to create a backup, or readers of the image files / games you need.
