Currently, I make tape backups, but want to switch to the backup external hard drives. I need to save about 300 GB of data, storage and exchange of my sql database and a complete backup of my C:

you need at least 300 GB backup. Get a 500 GB or larger external hard drive. I always look for one that is ranked 5 stars and a lot of comments. An external hard disk 1000GB costs almost as much as three 500GB hard drives externally.

500 GB

If you have a home network, you might consider adding an old computer and on your network and use it to backup files on all your computers. Install in one or more internal hard drives with 500 GB $ 110 or less each.

There are so many brands out there. For all examinations and the list of features and affordable prices, see NewEgg.Com. They THE BEST prices. They have the same price as Fry's Electronics, roughly. Good luck! I would say

They are almost all similar in terms of strength and speed ... As long as they use the same interface. USB2 and FireWire are both faster mode Streaming that most disk drives ... if the drive is the limiting factor.

Go with whatever your local store is selling better than the value!

Alternatively, spend more buy a NAS drive and add to your router. You can get 500Mb raid protected in a SIN to 200 / 200 ... or less if you buy a box NAS cheap hong kong and put two drives inside your own . Packard Bell
