I am looking for freeware that'll enable me to copy my hard drive to an external hard drive. Anybody know any

I am also willing to try shareware. If neither, I would be willing to buy software, if it is not too costly. Most software that I found not let you copy some files. Also, on my computer, it is a function Dell let me make a backup copy of my Windows XP Home operating system. It copies on CD. Whenever I try to make a backup copy, it stops part way. Nobody knows what I do?

There are a number of ways to safeguard your hard drive. You want to save your files on an external hard drive. That being the case, I recommend two options.

1. Option 1: Windows XP Home Edition comes with a backup program, but it is not installed by default. The backup program can save all or only the files you specify. Please read the following article on how to install the program. (
Have installed the program, see the following article on how to use it. (

2. Option 2, you use a third backup program called "SyncBack." The program is free with no adware or spyware. You can download the program at the following address: (The program has many more features that Windows XP program backup. It can save files on a CD, external hard drives, storage Online, etc. .. The basic functions are easy to learn, but to advance the features you'll need to read the help files. SyncBack I use for a number of years now and I was very happy with it. I discovered on this subject by the magazine PC World, www.ahead.de

unsure of the Dell thing. I think that instead of sweating the entire system backup, make sure you have all your software and operating system on disks in case of failure of hard drive or buying a new computer. Other than that, to copy the contents of a hard drive to another disk drive, a simple drag and drop will. Make sure you have all hidden files and a landlocked
