Here is a link that might help you. It explains how to set up a scheduler for backups and you can choose what you want to save and destination. I do not know if it is that you tried, and if the user must be connected. If so, there are recommendations for alternative methods of saving data in the bottom of the Web page.

Need a solution for data backup on an XP machine with multiple users. Tried using MS Backup, but it does not work if users are not connected. This machine does not usually anyone logged on so whatever solution to operate without a user connected to the machine.
