It is obviously a good idea that people do want to save collections of movies because they are not cheap to buy when you buy more than one at a time, but only because we want to do it does not mean that the film industry agree with us and do the consensus of opinion seems to be that it is illegal in most Western countries to do this.
What are the chances of getting caught you. Next to zero if you are not going to go sell them to people.
DVDs have copyright, I have the encoding them. I tried to copy a DVD on my computer but it will not let me. I heard there is a program that is going to win on copyright encoding but I can not find it.This is probably illegal. Decryption software was considered legal, but its use is probably illegal.

If your country has laws similar to the DMCA
Can any copying of content protected by encryption is a crime.
This includes all DVDs, which are protected under the standard.

, I think it's not even bother. What is the point of having a copy of a DVD. You can only see a film at a time and if you do lose or break one and really need to see it again, just buy a new one, it is easier.
