DVD currently come in a variety of configurations:
1) Single Layer: 4.5 GB capacity
2) Double Layer / Double Sided: ~ 4.25 Gbytes per side / layer
At the moment, you will not find a DVD containing all 8 GB that you want to save in a single layer per side. If you want to take the road to double layer, you must ensure that your computer and your burner support this option. Finally, if you simply reverse, many DVD authoring software companies offer a built in function only when the backup, will split the backup data across multiple disks if necessary.
