Dells are some of the worst to buy, they will lock on any and upgrades are even more difficult.
Their support sucks.
Get a ASUS, Sony, ABS, Toshiba

For a machine from Dell, which is about average. You can see a better deal of their time to time for this type of machine, but probably not until later in the year.

If you do not know what all this "stuff" you do not need. Why do not you start off with a laptop. After you know your way, you can upgrade.
I picked up a Toshiba laptop for $ 399, after rebate, with a free printer. 80g hard drive, 512 RAM, Vista Home. Me is very good. I do not start games and keep to a minimum, also set wallpaper and screen saver blank. This frees the memory. I do not intend to download music or films. If this is your intention, you want more memory May - and a cable connection. No.

Do not get a Dell. Their computers are horrible and their customer service is the worst. Instead, you should get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.

I think it should cost as 1000 or you can get a better eBay

yes, this is a super laptop! it really all depends on your needs. Are you a player? then get high-RAM and video card. Are you a music video? and higher treatment. for the time you got the whole package. This is the kind of portable I'm looking for when I buy one this summer for college.
