Recover deleted Windows Back-Up files?

I was making backups of my computer to an external hard drive using Windows backup and restore Centre for almost a year now. I accidentally deleted the entire folder with all my backups because I thought it was something else. Then I reinstalled Vista, knowing it would clear everything, but I think a backup. Is there any way I can find the files again and bring them back to life? I used a file deleted software, but only find images and music and things.

You can take a technology recovery of data to see if anything can be recovered, but otherwise I think you've lost.
