Sometimes, my operating system becomes unstable and I can not correct the problem. I must install O.S. once more with all installed software and drivers. It becomes very boring. If there is a way out of this as we can safeguard our system with all installed software and drivers and hand them to work even after that we need to format the hard disk. To add to that, I would also like to know if we can put ASR file on a removable storage medium other than a floppy.

You can not save programs that are not Windows. The size of the final image depends on the programme to be used for backup. For example by Acronis True Image can compress a file initial up to 60% of percentages.

You do not really provide enough information to give a complete answer, but the fact is that short-yes, you can back up your system so using removable media like a tape drive and a certain number of backup software applications. An even better solution is to use a removable hard drive plugged into a FireWire or USB port. (A large number of small and medium-sized businesses move to removable hard drives for backup solutions in place by adhesive tape.)
You talk "ASR"; acronyms three letters bear a lot of meanings and it would be useful if you have been more precise. Are you running on an Apple OS or Windows or ...? May You want to transfer your question with more details as the type of system, the operating system (including version), equipment and options you have already in place.
