Is it difficult to replace my (original) internal hard drive with a new hard drive?

At present, I have a 3-year Dell Dimension 2400 with a hard disk of 120 GB I want to get a smaller hard drive, maybe a 60gb and a swap so that the houses 60gb operating system and I use the 120gb as a backup device with an external hard drive enclosure. Is it difficult to do? Will I need anything else that the restructuring discs and all other software that came with the computer? Will I need to make any modification of any of the circuits in the computer itself? or can I simply turn off the machine, change discs and paste reformatting disks? thank you.

The process will go like that.

1. Take old hard drive and place it in the outer wall

2. Plug the cable inside the box on the hard drive.

3. Connect an external drive bay to computer via USB or FireWire

4. Place a jumper (comes in a box retail) on the pin at the back of the disk (on the basis of FDI) to establish a "master" mode

5. Insert new drive to pc and screws (or slide in some cases) in place. Use the screws player you just deleted

6. Connect the drive to the last connector on the IDE cable (if there are two connectors) and connect the blue end to the motherboard (should already be connected to the condition that they do not remove it while taking your other reader )

7. Plug the power cord from a previous hard drive new hard drive.

8. Turn on the computer and put windows in the CD

9. Enter the BIOS (the method of doing so varies, but it should be clear to the screen when the computer first turns on the most likely ... F11 or "del")

10. Follow the instructions for format (quick format is fine) and install a fresh copy of Windows on the disc.

11. You can format the other player if you wish using the windows CD or conclude "disk management" in the hotel properties of your control panel

12. You will need to reinstall the drivers for your motherboard and once these windows is installed. Dell offers on their site in their support section and May gave a CD.

13. Enjoy.

Make sure you have your Windows software, software drivers for your PC and other public services ie .. MS Office. you do not need to change anything in your pc .. If you have all this, you are now ready to remove your old disk and insert a new and you are now beginning May loading your OS .. good luck ....

It is not difficult.
To connect a hard drive internship, there are two cables, one is a data cable, other is a power cable. You can also keep the hard disk into the computer, as a master disk, others as a slave drive.
If you choose to use a disk as an external drive, all you have to do is to disconnect its cables, take it out and insert it into the USB.

I had a Dell Dimension 2400 myself not so long go, and I played with it all the time with new components and ...... and thats how I learned to build computers ....... all the information that you need below (bearing in mind that you are a beginner)

answer for you - no, it's not difficult as you think, LETZ take this way, you understand the difference between a house 3pin power cord and an outlet 2pin? they are simply different and a 3-pin cannot go to a 2pin, thats how it is inside the computer so you only need a cable (IDE in your case, because older dimensons used this way to connect your hard drives to the motherboard instead of technology development recently SATA). ]

What to know.
1.an IDE cable look like this, go ur hard Data Execution and forth.
2. power connector look like this

3. how they connect!

read below for instructions written after ..... and saw above images to understand bettter.

As you open your computer you will realize that there are two cables go to disk drive (HDD), which has 4 son going to be the power source for the disc, and the other is one for transporting data and the motherboard. You must remove both of your original drive and plug it into your new disc on the way it was on your old hard .... its new just obvious to the naked eye what wire goes where taken because of the form and number of pins that connect. ...... if the IDE cable cannot be pushed, relax simply a 180-degree turn and push it again, it will go well, there is a small halo on one side of the IDE connector to help you know which side the wire should be connected, then again, it should not be much for you ....
Outer Wall WLL a plug-and-play desin ur where you press hard and the rest is magic ..

Remember - whatever you screw and is the same way that you live and its the same way that you put in your new disc in the same place the disc it replaces.

Finally ........
since its a Dell should have come with a "resettlement of the operating system disk for your windows and Dell Resource CD for your drivers for your hardware ........ as long as you both, just go ahead and format your drive and start up your Windows installation in your news reader.

It is not too difficult for me, but I do not know how difficult it is for you. If you follow all instructions, you should have no problem.

It's simple if you use a desktop computer. It is enough to make the new hard drive connected primary drive, then everything is OK.
