Hello, everyone
I am a bit new to mac stuff. Can anyone tell me how best to do this?
1. I want to be able to hide one of my partition I split with a drive installed. (My backup)
2. I want to be able to save a "backup" image using 3rd party software in my drive backup and restore my system, if I need a restoration for any reason.
Using OS X Tiger

Congratulations for a Mac! Never again.
1. You will not be able to hide your partitions.
Each partition is still as a hard drive on your desktop. You can always change the look the additional hard drive icon by sticking on another image at the "additional information". (Click to highlight the hard drive icon and then paste the picture here). I tend to use three partitions on my first PowerBook running Mac OS 7.5.3 (well before OSX). She allowed me to install new system software open on a partition if I happened to fragment my file system partition on my regular. Then I could pull files of this partition after I received the new established and functioning. The other advantage with multiple partitions is to have different versions of system software installed on different partitions, as osx on a tiger and a leopard on another. You can choose to boot from a partition or the other.
I never had to reinstall the system software on my new powerbook running osx, in fact, I updated my software and did not have to write about my scores (single), which was not possible before osx.
2. You will not need 3rd party software to safeguard your hard drive. You can back up your important files using Disk Utility Apple. You can learn about how to do that with your Help Viewer.
fun to discover the capabilities of your Mac!
